1-Ram international: The ultimate South-Indian vegetarian restaurant! A typical and exquisite food, a perfect service, for a derisory sum! (Try the variety chutneys) 2-Arul textile: In the center clock tower square of the grand bazaar, don't hesitate to ask for Steven who can sell you at affordable prices any kind of fabrics or realize the clothes of your dreams.
2-Karikal family restaurant: A good place to have a generous non-vegetarian south Indian meal, or taste their delicious Indian-style Roasted chicken. (Take-away possible) 3-Cottonwood: Come and visit this beautiful traditional tamil house and admire its large choice of antique furnitures, Indian artists paintings and typical fabrics items.
3-Food Land: A large choice of traditional Tandoor-style cooking. (Taste the romani roties!) 4-Kaasha ki aasha: An other beautiful house to visit, to have a tea on the terrasse or wonder around in a multitude of original clothes, jewelries…
4-DeBussy: Somewhere you can enjoy classic Indian non-veg food with a fresh beer, on a terrace. (Don't hesitate to ask for "less spicy") 5-Tibetan shop: Those 2 shops are owned by a Tibetan family who gathers treasures of their country. Regularly refreshing their stock of antiques and colorful jewelries..
Street Fast-foods: 6-Ashram hand made paper: The Ali Baba's cavern of papers. A lot of different and colorful paper items (note books, boxes, origami sets,…) You can also visit the factory.
5- The most savory chicken 65 in town, to take-away. 7-Nilgiris: The main center supermarket where you can buy everything, particularly western products.
6- The only place where you can fins "fried macaroni", which also proposes a nice variety of tasty junk food (cutlets, mutton rolls, etc…) 8-Jaya emporium: A real bric-a-brac of cosmetics, jewelries, toys, tailoring accessories, stationeries, chocolates, dishes and house keeping instruments.
7- This small restaurant sells the most crispy and tasty Parotas in pondi, on the spot or take away. 9-Sri hari musicals: Where you can find all types of Indian made or imported music instruments.
Continental: 10-Mister beads: Just sit on the street and take the time to be tempted by the large choice of colorful handmade glass beads.
8-Satsanga: The most famous French restaurant in Pondicherry, where you can have a quite good steak and a glass of wine in a pleasant garden. 11-Lakme beauty parlour: For you girls! If you need to wax or to relax with a manicure or a fresh facial wash, with hygienic international standards.
9-Le Dupleix: One of the most expensive restaurants in town, but the quality is worth it. Delicious French food (at international standards), in a lovely setting. 12-Pims: Regarding health troubles, the doctors of PIMS are the most competent and hygienic you can find in Pondicherry.
10-La terrasse: This restaurant is very appreciated by tourists for its nice atmosphere, and its simple but tasty food.
11-Le feu de bois: The best pizzas around, that you can savor on a peaceful roof terrace.
12-Daily Bread: The only place where you can have a real expresso coffee with delicious "viennoiseries".
